Temporary Graduate Visa Subclass 485

It allows international students to reside, enrol in study-course and work after finishing their studies in Australia.

Graduate Work Stream (Subclass 485)

This visa is for international students who have recently graduated with abilities and qualifications that are significant to particular occupations Australia needs. It lets you live, get enrol in studies and work in Australia temporarily. This visa permits you: –

• Reside in Australia, usually for 18 months
• Travel, do a job or get enrolled in the study course in Australia during your stay
• Applicants can bring his/her family to Australia.

Eligibility:

1. Applicant must be under 50 years of age
2. Have a qualification relevant to an occupation on the skilled occupation list.
3. be assessed as having skills suitable for an occupation on the skilled occupation list
4. Applicant must find his/her own employment on grant of visa. Government is not responsible for arranging employment
5. Applicant and his/her family must meet all visa conditions and follow Australian laws.
6. Applicant and his/her family must meet the health and character requirements of the Australian Government.

Have paid outstanding debt (if any) to the Australian Government: -If the applicant or any family member of the applicant owes any debt to the Australian Government, it must be paid back or at least have formal arrangements to pay it back.

Australian Values Statement: – You must sign the Australian values statement, which assures that you will abide by all Australian laws and will respect their way of living.

Duration of Stay:

• This being a temporary visa, an applicant can usually stay in Australia for 18 months.
• Hong Kong passport holders may stay up to 5 years
• The visa is granted with multiple entries.
• Applicants can leave and re-enter Australia as many times as they want while the visa is valid.
• The visa starts on the date we grant the visa.

Stay longer:

You can’t stay in Australia longer by extending this visa.

Family:

Members of the family unit can also be included in your application. You can:

1. include them when you lodge your visa application

Family members who apply with you must:

• Meet health and character requirements of the Australian Government.
• Children can be added to the application until a decision on your application is made.
• Any other member of the family unit can not be added to your application during that period.
• After the visa is granted, your family can also apply to join you in Australia as a subsequent entrant

Subsequent entrants can be in or outside Australia when they apply and when the visa is granted.

Processing time:

• 75% of applications: 5 months
• 90% of applications: 6 months

Application, however, might take a longer time to process if not filled correctly.
